Cook a juicy, tender turkey breast quickly in your Instant Pot. This recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners or a stress-free holiday meal, complete with instructions for making gravy from the pot drippings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (4-5 lb) bone-in turkey breast
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for gravy)
  • 1/2 cup cold water (for gravy)

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the turkey breast.
  3. Pour the chicken broth into the inner pot of your Instant Pot. Place the trivet inside the pot.
  4. Carefully place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the trivet, skin-side up.
  5. Secure the lid and set the vent to the sealing position.
  6. Cook on High Pressure for 45 minutes (allow 10-15 minutes for natural pressure release).
  7. Once the pressure has fully released, carefully remove the turkey breast and set it aside on a cutting board to rest, covering it loosely with foil.
  8. To make the gravy, pour the liquid from the Instant Pot into a saucepan. Skim off excess fat if desired.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
  10. Bring the liquid in the saucepan to a simmer over medium heat. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry.
  11. Continue to simmer and whisk until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  12. Slice the turkey breast and serve immediately with the homemade gravy.

Notes

  • For crispier skin, you can place the cooked turkey breast under the oven broiler for 3-5 minutes after resting. Watch it closely to prevent burning.
  • If you use a boneless turkey breast, reduce the cooking time by 10-15 minutes.
  • This recipe works well for a smaller Thanksgiving alternative to a whole bird.
