Make this easy, thick pizza sauce in under five minutes using pantry staples. This no-cook recipe delivers rich, robust flavor perfect for your next homemade pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes (San Marzano preferred for best flavor)
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional, balances acidity)

Instructions

  1. Pour the entire 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes into a medium bowl. Do not drain the liquid.
  2. Add the tomato paste, minced fresh garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. If you prefer a slightly less acidic sauce, add the optional sugar now.
  4. Use an immersion blender or transfer the mixture to a standard blender. Blend until the sauce is smooth and thick. If using a standard blender, pulse carefully.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust salt or herbs as needed.
  6. For the thickest result, stir well and let the sauce rest for at least 10 minutes before spreading on your pizza crust. This allows the flavors to meld.
  7. Use immediately as your base sauce for homemade pizza.

Notes

  • For a New York-Style flavor, use high-quality crushed tomatoes and ensure you use fresh garlic.
  • If you want a smoother sauce without blending, press the crushed tomatoes through a fine-mesh sieve first.
  • This sauce is ready immediately, making it perfect for quick pizza night meals.
