Make the best homemade lemonade with this easy recipe. It balances tart lemon flavor with sweet simple syrup, creating a refreshing summer drink perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice (about 810 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 4 cups cold water (for mixing)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup: Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. Squeeze your lemons to yield 2 cups of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove pulp and seeds.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and 4 cups of cold water.
  4. Stir the mixture well until fully combined. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding a little more water or lemon juice if needed.
  5. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve the classic homemade lemonade over plenty of ice. Garnish each glass with a fresh lemon slice.
