Make this Easy Cheeseburger Pie for a satisfying, comforting meal that tastes just like your favorite cheeseburger baked into a flaky crust. This recipe is simple to prepare and perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or Bisquick mix for an ‘Impossible’ style crust)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Spread the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the beef layer.
  4. Distribute the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef mixture.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour (or Bisquick), milk, and eggs until the mixture is smooth. Whisk in the ketchup and mustard until just combined.
  6. Carefully pour the liquid batter mixture over the beef and cheese filling in the pie crust. The batter will cover the filling.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and set in the center.
  8. Let the Cheeseburger Pie cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For an authentic cheeseburger flavor, serve slices with classic toppings like pickle slices, extra ketchup, or mustard on the side.
  • If you use Bisquick instead of flour and milk, reduce the baking time slightly, as the texture will set faster.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with Monterey Jack or a Colby-Jack blend for a different melt.
