Make these incredibly simple sausage balls using just three components: sausage, Bisquick, and cheese. They are a satisfying, cheesy appetizer perfect for parties or quick snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage (such as Jimmy Dean)
  • 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage, Bisquick baking mix, and shredded Cheddar cheese.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small space between each ball.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute Bisquick with a homemade biscuit mix if you prefer not to use the commercial product.
  • For a different flavor, try using spicy sausage instead of regular breakfast sausage.
  • These sausage and cheese balls freeze well. Cool them completely, place them in a freezer-safe bag, and freeze for up to three months. Thaw overnight and reheat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until warmed through.
