Make these savory garlic noodles ready in just 20 minutes. This easy Asian-inspired recipe uses a rich, buttery sauce with bold garlic flavor and Parmesan cheese, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces spaghetti or linguine
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional, for depth)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta water before draining.
  2. While the pasta cooks, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  4. Whisk in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, and sesame oil into the skillet. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  5. Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat every strand.
  6. Add the reserved pasta water, a few tablespoons at a time, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the noodles nicely.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately, topped with extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add 1 teaspoon of chili garlic sauce to the butter mixture in step 4.
  • You can substitute spaghetti with ramen noodles or linguine for a different texture.
  • This recipe pairs well with grilled shrimp or chicken for a complete meal.
