Create elegant, layered chocolate and strawberry dessert cups inspired by gourmet trends. This recipe features rich chocolate ganache, fresh strawberries, and a creamy filling, perfect for individual servings.

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chocolate wafer cookies or brownies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the whipped cream: Beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  2. Make the chocolate ganache: Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Heat the 1/2 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan until just simmering. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Stir in the butter until fully incorporated. Let the ganache cool slightly until it thickens to a spreadable consistency.
  3. Prepare the base layer: In the bottom of four small serving cups or glasses, place an even layer of crushed cookies or brownies.
  4. Assemble the layers: Spoon a layer of the slightly cooled chocolate ganache over the cookie base in each cup.
  5. Add a layer of sliced strawberries over the chocolate layer.
  6. Top the strawberries with a generous layer of the prepared whipped cream.
  7. Repeat the layers: Add a small amount of remaining ganache, followed by more strawberries, and finish with a final dollop of whipped cream on top of each cup.
  8. Chill the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the layers to set slightly.

Notes

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet in the ganache.
  • If you do not have wafer cookies, use crushed graham crackers or small pieces of chocolate cake for the base layer.
  • You can pipe the whipped cream using a pastry bag for a more professional look.
