Make a rich, creamy garlic white pizza sauce at home that tastes better than store-bought options. This easy recipe uses simple ingredients to create a flavorful, restaurant-style base for your next homemade pizza.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for topping
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to create a roux.
  4. Slowly pour in the warm milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Continue to cook and stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Do not let it boil rapidly.
  7. Remove the sauce from the heat. Use immediately as the white pizza base sauce for your pizza dough.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
  • This sauce is perfect for chicken pizza or spinach white sauce pizza recipes.
  • You can thin the sauce slightly with a splash of milk if it becomes too thick after cooling slightly.
