Make this easy Caramel Apple Dump Cake using only four main ingredients. It delivers warm, gooey apple pie flavor with minimal effort, perfect for fall gatherings or quick comfort desserts. You can bake it in the oven or prepare it in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1 bag (10-12 oz) caramel bits or chips
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) or prepare your slow cooker (set to low). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish if using the oven.
  2. In the baking dish or slow cooker insert, spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not stir.
  4. Scatter the caramel bits over the cake mix layer.
  5. Pour the melted butter evenly over the top layer, covering as much of the dry mix as possible.
  6. For Oven Method: Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. For Slow Cooker Method: Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours, until set and bubbly.
  8. Let the dump cake cool slightly before serving warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the yellow cake mix with spice cake mix.
  • If you do not have caramel bits, you can use 1 cup of caramel sauce drizzled over the cake mix layer instead of the bits, but you may need to reduce the butter slightly.
  • Serve this gooey apple dessert warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
